Do you know what Neighboring Rights are? Whether you’ve been in the industry for years or you’re an up and coming artist, few artists and managers know and/or understand what neighboring rights are, how to claim and collect them, and what they need to do to maximize these earnings.
This educational panel will feature three women from The Independent Alliance for Artist Rights (IAFAR), a new organisation specifically formed to tackle issues across this income stream:
Naomi Asher, VP of Neighboring Rights at Sony/ATV; Lee-Anne Wielonda, Neighboring Rights Manager at CCS Rights Management; and Shari Hoffman, CEO and Co-Founder of Transparence Entertainment Group. This panel will be moderated by Danielle Vu, Product Manager at HIFI, former Manager of International Operations at SoundExchange.
Prior to working at Sony/ATV, Naomi Asher co-founded Wixen Music UK LTD and served as Director and President from 2010 to 2020. She is a co-author on the UK edition of The Plain and Simple Guide to Music Publishing.
For over twenty years, Lee-Anne has been putting her love for music and dedication to performers’ rights to work. She is instrumental in the administrative procedures that put rights in place in Canada to compensate recording artists for work done on sound recordings in international territories.
Before Transparence Entertainment Group, Shari was the COO for the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund. Her history includes record label promotion for multi-platinum recording artists, managing tour settlements for top grossing concerts worldwide, and representing above & below the line personnel for 2 major entertainment unions. A passionate advisor & artist advocate, Shari strives to ensure that music creators have the proper education and tools to flourish.
