Neighbouring Rights 101

Neighbouring Rights 101 – Whether this is your first time hearing the term or your thousandth, this webinar is for you! We’re here to break it all down—giving you a solid foundation (or a much-needed refresher) on one of the most important (and often misunderstood) revenue streams in the music industry.

Ever wondered where neighbouring rights royalties come from? Picture this: every time a song is played on the radio, in a café, or on TV, royalties are generated—not just for the songwriter, but also for the performers and master rights holders. These rights have roots dating back to the 1961 Rome Convention, where the groundwork was laid to ensure artists and producers get paid for public performances of their recordings.

Some call neighbouring rights the “dark arts” of the industry, but today, we’re stripping back the mystery and making it simple. By the end of this session, you’ll understand how these royalties flow and how to make sure you’re collecting what you’re owed. Let’s dive in!

This event will be free for members, for non-members this event will be charged at £10pp. Book your place here.
